A natural purple/plum look

I love wearing purple on the eyes, lips and cheeks- I feel like it really suits my skintone, especially during the fall/autumn. Now that autumn is ending though, I thought I would better hurry and get in a pic of my makeup of the day!

I will post a purple spring look too but for now here it is!

7 day beauty challenge: Friday

I was meant to publish this on Friday, but I forgot, so here is my Friday look for the 7 day beauty challenge . The challenge was a red lip – I used MAC Semi-Matte lipstick in Eden Rouge (review here).

Products used:

MAC Mattene Lipstick in Eden Rouge

Face of Australia Mineral Foundation in Medium

Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Blush (first tier)

Dior 5-couleurs eyeshadow palette in Stylish Move

Face Shop gel eyeliner pencil (this stuff is amazing, it is literally waterproof! Review coming…)

7 day beauty challenge: Thursday

20130328-133813.jpg

Today’s look is Pastels. I decided to go with pale pink shimmer eyeshadow anchored with black eyeliner, and a pale pink lip to match. I just didn’t think I could pull off baby blue or mint green as makeup.
Also I used pink blush and my nails are paired baby pink.

Products used:
Tarts Amazonian clay waterproof cream shadow in Seashell Pink
Essence long wear eyeliner
Revlon lip butter in Strawberry Shortcake
Le métier de beaute kaleidoscope blush palette (top shade)
OPI nail polish in sweet memories

7 day beauty challenge: Wednesday

Wednesday’s look: “no makeup” makeup. Also known as “running errands” makeup or “early morning start” makeup. Basically this should look like I’m not wearing makeup but I still look awake and have a glow type look.

Products used:
Le métier de beaute creme blush in Poppy/Coqueliot
Nyx 10 colour eyeshadow in Catwalk (I think)- pale gold mixed with pale pink shade all over eyelid
Kate lipstick in a medium pink shade
Cle de peau concealer in Ocher (essential for this look to cover up tiredness)
Dolly wink black pencil eyeliner
Face of Australia mineral foundation (medium)

7 day beauty challenge: Tuesday

I forgot to post Monday’s purple look which I will do later, but for now here is Tuesday’s! By the way this is part of my self-imposed seven day beauty challenge- trying a new look each day! It just helps to jazz up my morning routine!

20130326-080538.jpg

Today’s look was wearable graphic eyeliner, achieved by using L’oreal Lineur Intense with a wing upwards at the end of the eye.

I also used Stila’s In The Garden Palette for eyeshadow, with Breeze on the lid and Bark on the outer corners of the eyelid. Then I applied Stila’s waterproof eyeliner on the bottom lash line in Starfish.

For cheeks I used Bare Minerals blush in The One and Too Faced chocolate soleil bronzer.

Lips were an old Rimmel shade (pink-plum) in Asia.

Hope you guys liked my look of the day!

Week in pictures – February 11th 2013

Sorry that I haven’t been blogging in awhile, it’s been a really busy few weeks what with my daytime job and my after-hours makeup job,  plus finding the time to take a quick trip to Sydney – but I really should have found the time to post a few reviews and such. Especially since I’ve been hoarding lots of new products to blog about!

For now, here’s my week in pictures…

My week in photos

From clockwise:

  1. Delicious and healthy breakfast of brown rice and sweet white miso porridge with coconut and mango, at bills in Surry Hills, Sydney (it’s renowned TV chef Bill Granger’s restaurant)
  2. An impulse buy – Clarins Instant Beauty Kit, retailing for $50 at David Jones. It includes the Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer/mattifier, Instant Light Complexion Perfector, Instant Light Lip Perfector (the peach one) and the Instant Light Brush-on Perfector (concealer). The primer and concealer are both full size which makes the whole kit pretty worth it. I love the lip perfector – feels like a lip balm but looks like a gloss!
  3. Dessert at Sepia restaurant in Sydney’s Circular Quay – one of four desserts, to be exact! Amazing degustation menu. I can’t actually remember the name of this dish but I know it’s an sour cherry ice shell filled with some kind of fruity sorbet. Mmm :)
  4. Lastly, new nail polish! I have on Butter London’s Nail Foundation with All Hail the Queen layered on top (a pretty beige-brown with subtle sparkle).

Face of the day: mocha lips

Products used:

MUFE HD Foundation

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Eyeshadow in Cinnamon (lid colour)

Bare Minerals ‘The Truth’ Eyeshadow palette (Fate shade used on the outer corners)

Laura Mercier Second Skin Blush in Lush Nectarine

Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Mocha

L’Oreal Lineur Intense liquid eyeliner

Mini review:

By the way, the Laura Mercier lip stain in Mocha is a beautiful sheer brown-red that adds a little sophistication to an overall natural look (and a little goes a long way) but on the downside, it lasts no longer than 2-3 hours without eating (probably wouldn’t last after a meal!). It’s pretty disappointing considering it’s called a stain!

However, unlike most stains it’s glossy and hydrating and feels more like a lip balm, which probably contributes to its poor staying power.

I just got a little sample of it from Sephora to test out, and although I do like the colour (amazing on warm skin tones), the poor staying power of the product doesn’t justify its US$20/S$39 cost.
